Jeremy and Ruth are extremely kind and helpful people. As many have pointed out, they are hobbyists first, so don’t expect a pressured sales pitch like you are at a car lot. If you have questions, they have answers. If you spend any amount of time speaking with them you can clearly see that they have done extensive amounts of research on the hobby and have facts to back up everything they say. Other places just want to sell you the flavor of the month, and will do so by any means necessary. My only regret is that I did not start going to Coral Reef before I purchased my first tank, as I believe I would have been given better advice and not had to fix problems that taking advice from the wrong people created. Remember, these things are living creatures, not just decorations; they all deserve to be happy in the environment you create for them. We should all strive to get the best advice possible to make this happen. You have questions, the owners of Coral Reef have answers. If they don’t have what you need, they can certainly get it for you.
As a reefer constantly on the search for good coral, Coral Reef has always had some of the best around. I have pieces in my reef from 2-3 yrs ago.
First off, this world is a large place; there are billions of people and just about as many personalities out there. What many uneducated people may consider a rude personality may, in reality, just be a very nice person that is simply different than yourself. I personally find Jeremy and Ruth to be extremely friendly people that would love nothing more than to see me happy in this hobby. As for the “empty” looking tanks, don’t let the black background confuse you, these tanks are often brimming with life! One of the many reasons to do this is similar to how the atmosphere in a nice restaurant makes you feel more relaxed than going to a fast food joint. Relaxed fish = healthy fish. There is a reason for everything; if you want to know, just ask!
